Travel Guide to Swieradow-Zdroj in Poland - The Weekend Getaway

Świeradów-Zdrój is a small town located in the Jizera Mountains - Góry Izerskie, (part of the Sudetes/Sudety range) in southern Poland, near border with the Czech Republic. It is famous for its mineral- and radon-rich waters, which are used in therapeutic treatments, stunning architecture as well as for its many seasonal attractions such as skiing, gondola rides, hiking trails, and unique landmarks like a skywalk tower “Skywalk”, above the mountains.

I visited this town twice, once in winter for snowboarding and once this April—and I truly loved both seasons. Everyone can find something special in Świeradów-Zdrój. I find it very peaceful and perfect for couples, families and anyone who wants to relax and enjoy a traditional Polish spa town. It’s also great for kids, thanks to many attractions and beautiful resort hotels like ours, Forest Park Resort & Spa.

I hope you enjoy this travel guide to Świeradów-Zdrój in Poland, where my friend, her son, and I spent recently two nights—and we can’t wait to come back. It was a beautiful spring getaway in the Polish mountains!

Where to stay in Swieradów-Zdrój?

Since Świeradów-Zdrój is a popular wellness and spa destination in the Polish mountains, you’ll find many beautiful resorts both in the town and the surrounding area.

I stayed twice at Forest Park Resort & Spa (you can book it here), conveniently located near the famous gondola lift. The resort offers great amenities, including a swimming pool (indoor and outdoor), hot tubs, spa and wellness center, and an aquapark for kids. I highly recommend this hotel and resort, we had the best time!

The rooms were modern, spacious, and clean, with a kitchenette, kettle, coffee machine, and a selection of tea and coffee. With its great location and facilities, it’s an ideal destination for skiing and snowboarding in winter, as well as hiking and bike rides during spring and summer.

Forest Park Resort & Spa (review)

Our experience at Forest Park Resort & Spa was truly amazing. We loved our spacious room with beautiful mountain views, the staff was very friendly, and the amenities I mentioned above were excellent as well. We also had breakfast buffet and dinner buffet options, and all the food was delicious and flavorful. I especially loved the on-site hotel restaurant, Izerska, which serves great coffee and à la carte lunch and dinner. Every dish we tried was excellent.

We visited the hotel right before the Easter holidays, and it was filled with beautiful decorations and festive events, making it perfect for kids and families.

Their breakfast buffet offered a great selection of breads, rolls, pastries, hams, bacon, eggs, and cheeses, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables, tea, coffee, and juices. You cannot imagine a better European-style breakfast buffet than the one at Forest Park Resort & Spa.

The dinner buffet was also amazing, featuring hot soups, traditional Polish dishes, and regional specialties, as well as desserts and complimentary prosecco.

I highly suggest adding breakfast & dinner buffet to your reservation on Booking or on the hotel’s website. You can also add it upon the check in, but for a bit higher price.

Izerska Restaurant (à la carte)

Restauracja Izerska, located inside Forest Park Resort & Spa, is my favorite restaurant in the whole town of Świeradów-Zdrój. From delicious morning coffee to excellent à la carte dishes, everything we tried was fantastic. I recommend making a reservation. You can check their website here.

Things to do in Swieradów-Zdrój

Visit Dom zdrojowy (Spa Hall) & Wooden Promenade - Uzdrowisko SwieradoW-Zdroj

It’s a historic Spa House and the most iconic landmark in town, constructed in 1899. Entrance to the building is free, and it is best known for its beautiful indoor wooden promenade and drinking pump room, where you can try mineral and radon waters (one glass costs less than $1 USD, around 3 PLN). Inside, there is also a café where you can enjoy coffee, waffles, or ice cream. It’s one of the nicest spots to visit in Świeradów-Zdrój, you should add it to your travel list!

Visit downtown Swieradow-Zdroj

The next thing that you need to do is to walk around downtown Świeradów-Zdrój and admire its elegant spa-town architecture, colorful historic houses, mountain guesthouses, and peaceful atmosphere. The town has a classic Lower Silesian wellness-resort charm that feels especially magical during winter and holiday seasons. You will find there plenty of souvenir shops, local artisan stores, cafes, pharmacies and a bakery.

The Observation Tower Sky Walk

Skywalk is the most popular attraction of Świeradów-Zdrój. It’s made of wood and it rises over the town and offers panoramic views of the Izera Mountains, glass viewing platforms, nets suspended above the ground, and a long slide back down. It’s a great attraction for people in all ages, especially the kids can enjoy it.

The tickets can be purchased on the site in the kiosk. You don’t need a reservation to access the Skywalk. You can read more information on their website: https://skywalk-swieradow.pl/en/home/

Conclusion

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in one of the spa hotels or an adventurous excursion in the Polish mountains, Świeradów-Zdrój has it all.

It’s a great place to visit all year round, but spring, summer, and autumn are especially beautiful. I also recommend visiting in winter for people who enjoy skiing or snowboarding.
